The story behind the game｜Taiwan's Shawarma Core legend
Why does the shawarma at a night-market stall never seem to run out? Taiwanese internet users turned that everyday question into a wonderfully absurd legend about immortal meat.
In a tongue-in-cheek story shared on PTT, a Taiwanese online forum, shawarma is a living creature with a hidden Shawarma Core. As long as its core survives, sliced meat grows back. Damage the core, and the creature dies. The story spread widely during Taiwan's 2017 shawarma meme craze.
Shawarma Core turns that Taiwanese internet joke into a game of timing: hold to harvest, release to regrow, and risk thinner cuts for more points. The meat can grow back. The core gets only one chance.
The Shawarma Core is a fictional internet meme. This game's twelve forms and challenge rules are our own playful extensions of that idea.
Start at round 1 and play twelve 45-second rounds. Completed runs upload automatically to the leaderboard.
